Dialysis Care

When your kidneys can no longer filter blood on their own, dialysis takes over that job. We offer both hemodialysis (blood filtered through a machine, usually at the centre) and peritoneal dialysis (done at home using the lining of the abdomen), so you can choose what fits your routine and travel distance.

Government Scheme Support

Cost is often the first worry families raise. You may qualify for free or subsidised dialysis under Ayushman Bharat or PM-NDAP. Our team checks your eligibility and handles the paperwork alongside you.

Supporting Your Family Member

Caregivers often ask how to help without hovering. Simple things matter most: keeping fluid and diet logs, watching for fatigue or swelling between sessions, and being present for the first few visits so the routine feels less overwhelming.

For the fuller picture of kidney disease stages and when dialysis becomes necessary, see our complete kidney disease guide.

How often do I need dialysis?

Most hemodialysis patients need 3 sessions a week, about 3-4 hours each. Peritoneal dialysis can often be done daily at home. Your nephrologist will recommend the schedule based on your kidney function.

Does PM-NDAP cover free dialysis?

The Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme (PM-NDAP) provides free dialysis to eligible patients at empanelled centres. Message us on WhatsApp with your city to check eligibility.

What should I eat while on dialysis?

Dialysis diets typically limit potassium, phosphorus, and fluid intake while ensuring enough protein. A renal dietitian at your Fortis centre can build a plan around familiar foods like dal, roti, and vegetables.
